I’ve been active for the past 20 years, and movement has always been a cornerstone of my life. The only time I can truly remember being still was during pregnancy — and while that’s a beautiful experience for many, for me it was an incredibly dark period. I’m certain that much of it was due to not being able to move the way I was used to.
The Natural Changes That Come With Age
Now, as I approach 40, I notice the little things slipping — words, items… and sometimes even my patience 😏. These small changes are part of the natural process our bodies and minds go through as we age, though some days feel like a real challenge.
Why I Move: Beyond Aesthetics
Being active isn’t just a hobby — it’s essential for my mental and physical wellbeing. Some people might say I’m obsessed, that I do too much, or that I’ll regret it later. But I don’t exercise for aesthetics. I move to keep my mind healthy, to stay out of the dark, and to feel alive every single day.
Movement Is for Everyone
I truly believe this applies to everyone. Daily movement isn’t just about building strength or endurance — it’s about mental resilience, maintaining balance, and reclaiming control over your life, no matter your age 🫶🏼.
Staying active over 40 (and beyond) can transform the way you feel inside and out. Whether it’s walking, boxing, yoga, or strength training, finding a way to move that works for you is one of the most powerful tools for maintaining mental and physical health.
